_where and _when

DIGIWAYS was founded in 2006 as a full subsidiary of MISSION CRITICAL Business IT Services Ltd., an IT consulting and services company, to provide software tools and solutions for small and medium businesses. Unlike MISSION CRITICAL, whose business is local by design, DIGIWAYS operates globally and has already carried out projects for businesses in Germany, UK, Latvia, USA and Israel.

At the moment, business operations are concentrated at our Berlin branch. In order to achieve the mix of mentalities, skills and personalities we deem neccessary to provide "software European by design" further branch offices will follow in near future.

_who

Evgenij Smirnov, who also steers the "mothership" since its founding days, wrote his first computer program ever (for a programmable calculator) at the age of 7 and his first program in a structured language (FORTRAN) at 10. In order to accomplish his B.Sc. in Experimental Physics he developed an expert system for processing experimental data (PASCAL) parts of which are still being used in the industry. In 1997, he developed a web site (HTML/PERL) that was chosen "the best German gospel-related web site of the year". In the years that followed, Mr. Smirnov developed or helped develop numerous software applications, databases and web tools in various programming languages.

A small but skilful and constantly growing team of developers, editors and quality assurance staff are gathering to provide customers with best possible tools to operate their businesses even more successfully.

_what

It's bridging the gaps, not reinventing the wheel, that we've set out to do. Sometimes the smallest pieces have the biggest impact on the solution as a whole: integration leads to convergence, convergence improves usability, better usability leads to better acceptance amongst the users which in turn helps leverage the goals the solution has been implemented for.

Why does your business need our products and services?

- we think and work business-centric. A piece of software isn't there to fulfill the specification, it's there to enable a business to do things, or to do things faster, or to do things more effectively.

- we are not dogmatic. There isn't such a thing as "the best operating system", "the best programming language" or "the best database engine" - everything is there to serve a purpose; what serves your particular purpose best is the best for you.

- our products and services always are reasonably-priced. We don't believe in free software any more than we would in free hardware, nor have we got a mission to make the world better by providing soultions for free. But it's among our goals to make our customers richer, not poorer.
